Wellington North councillors were recently brought up to date on wireless communications work at the Kenilworth municipal office.

The water and sewer committee minutes noted with the tower installed at the office, the township is moving forward with wireless communications in conjunction with Wellington North Power, which will connect Arthur, Kenilworth and Mount Forest.

A meeting was set with the utility to work out cost sharing and timing of the project.

Due to frequency conflicts, the township will need to change the wireless system currently being used for the Arthur SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) system, which monitors, controls and raises the alarm for the municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities from a central location.

Changing the wireless system will be co-ordinated between Hollen Controls and Frey Communications.
