Consul General offers thanks for Erin visit

It isn’t often municipalities get thank-you letters, and it’s even more unusual to get one from the representative of another country.

Last month Erin councillors were apprised of a letter of thanks from Li Fang, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Toronto.

The letter, addressed to Mayor Lou Maieron, offered thanks for providing the opportunity to visit Erin and Wellington County in June.

“You are so considerate and helpful that you drove a full day and [were] the guide to our team, which made our visit a successful and enjoyable one,” wrote Fang.

“This is really an enlightening and eye-opening experience ...Right now, I think I have enough information to better introduce your town to the people in my home country. Both China and the Town of Erin are facing new opportunities for development. I wish we could bring our peoples closer and yield some practical results through our joint efforts in the coming years.”
