Construction of new Mount Forest playground may start this year

A new place to play is in the works for Mount Forest.

On May 16, Mayor Ray Tout read a resolution regarding the donation pledge from the Mount Forest Lions Club for $50,000 over the next five years to cover the cost of a new playground.

The recreation committee is preparing a report regarding a proposed location, playground equipment, landscaping, and associated costs for the next council meeting.

Previous letters from the Lions Club noted its long history of supporting youth initiatives in the community and its pride in the Lions playground in the west end of the community.

Council then approved, in principal, a new playground in the east end of Mount Forest.

The club itself would like to see construction of the playground begin this year.
