Community law van resumed service May 5
Van visits north Wellington, Minto, Fergus, Guelph
WELLINGTON COUNTY – A community law van is returning for its seventh season of outdoor service across the county.
The Legal Clinic of Guelph and Wellington County is a community legal clinic funded by Legal Aid Ontario that provides free legal services to low-income residents.
Since 2019, it has expanded how it delivers services by travelling across Wellington County providing free legal help to rural communities through the use of its law van.
The law van will be on the road again as of May 6, providing legal support with:
– tenant rights;
– social and disability assistance;
– employment;
– human rights;
– legal referrals for other areas of law; and
– community navigation supports.
The law van is staffed by a lawyer/paralegal and community worker traveling between north Wellington and Minto every Wednesday from May to October, with stops in Fergus and Guelph throughout the month.
Law van staff will be set up at central outdoor locations along this route and no appointment is required.
Its schedule and locations can be found on its social media pages and at gwlegalclinic.ca/law-van.
Community members are invited to stop by to speak with a legal professional about their specific needs or to just say hi and check out the service.
The law van service is in addition to the legal clinic’s regular operations offered at its downtown Guelph office Monday to Friday.
The clinic can be reached by phone at 519-821-2100, email at clinic@gw.clcj.ca or in person at 176 Wyndham St. N., Unit 5.
