Community Garden Network signs use of land agreement with township

FERGUS – Council authorized a Use of Township Grounds Agreement with the Community Garden Network at its June 26 meeting.

The Community Garden Network is a volunteer group in Centre Wellington that has worked with the Community Services Department to create a community garden space at the Centre Wellington Sportsplex.

There is no fee to use the land for this purpose, however the Community Garden Network is required to adhere to the terms of this agreement and must provide proof of insurance.

The operations of the garden are coordinated and sustained through volunteers and provide plots for public use.

The land is divided into 23 plots which includes 21 garden plots, a pollinator garden, and a food forest.

Future plans include a garden shed which will be purchased, installed and owned by the garden network, and the township will confirm it meets specifications required for the site.
