Comedy Bedfull of Foreigners set to open at Little Theatre Feb. 7

Guelph Little Theatre is set to become the scene of uproarious comedy as the company rehearses for its next show on Feb 7.
With the season’s mandate of keeping it light, Dave Freeman’s A Bedfull of Foreigners keeps it right in line. The fast and funny play is the third in the theatre’s season that will give audiences a chance to laugh and forget the cold winter.
The action takes place in a rundown French hotel in a small village close to the German border on the eve of a local festival. All the ingredients of a fast moving farce, from mistaken identities to double booked rooms, mistaken identities, and hasty cover-ups run rampant through the play.
John Snowdon, known for many successful years as director and producer of Theatre in the Trees at the Arboretum Dinner Theatre, has returned to his theatrical roots at Guelph Little Theatre to direct the show. Snowdon joined the GLT in the early 1960s, and quickly settled in to all aspects of the company’s productions, from acting to lighting, to sound to directing, making a resounding success in all areas. However, directing became his forte, and his penchant for directing comedy and giving an audience a fun evening’s entertainment have kept him busy in that genre for over 20 years.
Bedfull of Foreigners is the troupe’s entry into the 2008 Western Ontario Drama League’s festival, which will be held this year in March in Chatham.
The show will be adjudicated for entry into the festival on Feb. 16. The evening will include a public adjudication, at which time the audience will be invited to listen to comments and critiques about the evening’s performance. The winner from the regional festival will go on to compete in the Theatre Ontario Festival in May.
A Bedfull of Foreigners opens Feb. 7 and runs Thursday through Saturday for three weeks, with a matinee on Feb. 17. Tickets are $17 and can be purchased by calling the box office at 519-821-0270 or can be ordered at www.guelphlittletheatre.com.
Guelph Little Theatre is located at 176 Morris Street.
