FERGUS – The Centre Wellington Singers are preparing to kick off the Christmas concert season.
The not-for-profit, all voice community choir is bringing its Christmas musical celebration to Melville United Church in Fergus again this year, featuring special guests The Elora Children’s Choir.
This will be the first concert under the new director Melanie Steenburgh and the repertoire is a joyful blend of Christmas songs old and new, officials state.
The program includes the ever-popular audience Christmas Carol sing-along, and this year, a special opportunity to join in performing the magnificent Hallelujah Chorus.
Now in its 29th year, the choir has grown to an impressive 70 members, a testament to the dedication and love of music shared by singers from across the region.
With its theme of “Home for the Holidays,” the show will also include stories and memories from holidays past recited by members of both choirs.
The concert takes place on Nov. 29 at 3pm at Melville United Church, 300 St Andrew Street West in Fergus.
When the music stops, the fun continues as the audience can mingle with the musicians over tea and treats in the church’s fellowship hall.
It promises to be a magical, musical afternoon not to be missed, officials state.
“It’s a fabulous opportunity to combine our community’s musical talents which span the generations – all in the spirit of Christmas,” said choir president Lillian Gohn.
“We’re so thankful that we have enough support that we can continue at our larger venue again this year. For many in our community, our Christmas concert has become an annual tradition, and we are so grateful.”
