Club announces changes to Rotary bingo

Since 2004, The Rotary Club of Fergus-Elora has partnered with The Grand River Agricultural Society to present fundraising bingos at the Grand River Raceway on the edge of Elora.

This fundraiser has enabled the club to make significant contributions to many community projects including Grove’s hospital, the Centre Wellington Sportsplex and, most recently, to the rehabilitation of Stait Park in Fergus, making it Centre Wellington’s first fully accessible playground.

Following feedback from bingo patrons, Rotary has changed the way bingos will be conducted.

“Commencing in February, we will be making changes to our bingo. In addition to the present admission price of $45 for four strips (12 cards) of share the wealth and regular games, we will introduce an alternate admission price of $25 for 2 strips (6 cards) for these games,” a Rotary media release states.

“We have received some feedback that some players find it very difficult to play 12 cards at a time and become very frustrated when trying to keep up. We hope that by making this change, our bingo will also be attractive to players who may not have a lot of experience in playing a large number of cards.”

The next Rotary Bingo takes place on Feb. 9 at the Grand River Raceway.  Doors open at 11am and the first game is called at 1pm.
