Clifford cyclist seriously injured in hit-and-run crash

MINTO – A Clifford cyclist was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following a hit-and-run crash here on Tuesday morning.

Wellington County OPP officials say emergency crews responded to the collision, on Wellington Road 2 at Regency Drive near Drew, on Oct. 11 at about 8:30am.

“Investigation determined that the cyclist had been struck by a motor vehicle which did not remain at the scene of the collision,” police stated in a press release.

“The cyclist, a 21-year-old from Clifford, was transported to a trauma centre by Air Ornge with serious injuries.”

Police are asking the driver involved in the incident to “come forward and to speak to officers.”

Wellington County Road 2 was closed for several hours for the investigation.
