City Legion distributes funds to area groups

The Colonel John McCrae Legion here recently distributed $22,000 to community groups.

The Legion raises funds through raffles, bingos, draws, and other events, and returns it to groups in the community.

This year, the groups and the money presented are:

- $1,000, Guelph Concert Band;

- $1,000, Guelph Museums;

- $2,500 each to the Air Cadets, Navy League, Sea Cadets, and Wellington Rifles;

- $8,500, Guelph Pipe Band; and

- $1,500, to the Lions Foundation.

The Legion also presented certificates of appreciation to Snap, a publication in Guelph, and to the

for their work publi­cizing the work and the events of the Legion in the community.
