The city has attracted another company that will work in the energy sector.

Melitron Corporation will manufacture solar panel parts and is expected to create up to 80 direct jobs and 300 indirect jobs.

As well Canadian Solar, is building a solar module manufacturing plant in Guelph. It will employ about 500 people and is set to open in early 2011.

Premier Dalton McGuinty attended the announcement and said, “Ontario families want to power their homes with clean energy and they also want good paying jobs. We’re making it a little easier to have both by encouraging innovative businesses, like Sustainable Energy Technologies and Melitron, to invest ... in Guelph.”

McGuinty is crediting his government with cutting the business tax rate on business investment in half, making Ontario an attractive place for businesses to invest.
