Children's Foundation Around the World Gala celebrates with "Aloha "Ohana"
The Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington is recreating the warmth and fun of Hawaii with this year’s Around the World Gala, “Aloha ‘Ohana.”
On Oct. 13, the community will come together to generate much-needed funds to provide empowering opportunities for local children and youth living in low-income households.
The Hawaiian theme will be represented in the evening’s décor, entertainment, cuisine and undoubtedly in the dress of its guests.
“The goal of the Gala is two-fold,” said Glenna Banda, Children’s Foundation executive director, “we look back proudly on what we’ve achieved together and celebrate the incredible impact of our community.
“We also look forward with courage and drive to continue building hope for local kids in need. We couldn’t do this without the tremendous support of our community.”
The word ‘ohana, incorporated in the name of the event, is a perfect fit with the mandate of the Children’s Foundation.
“Ohana” is a key concept of Hawaiian culture, referring to an extended sense of family that includes relatives, friends, neighbours and communities.
Each year, the demand for the Children’s Foundation’s programs continues to rise.
Based on this community need, the organization is focused over the next three years on doing more to end childhood poverty in Guelph and Wellington.
The funds raised at the Around the World Gala will be carefully invested in local children and youth to ensure that opportunity outshines their current hardships.
