Century Theatre Guild receives major awards
ERIN - Two productions at Century Church Theatre have received recognition at the annual Awards Night of the Association of Community Theatre, Central Ontario. (ACT-CO)
The Thea for best actress in a comedy went to Michelle Salmon for her performance in The Dixie Swim Club, by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten.
The awards gala took place on April 6 in Vaughn.
Other nominations for that show were best production, best ensemble (Rhonda Hewitson, Liz Peter, Michelle Salmon, Angie Sapalovski, Brigida Scholten), best director (Nick Forrow), best set design (Jo Phenix) and best consistency of dialect (North Carolina).
For the pantomime, Robin Hood by Jo Phenix, nominations went to Darcy Tyrrell, for his performance as Much, and Chris Warzin, for best actor in a comedy for his role as the Sheriff of Nottingham.
“Well done to the casts and crews of both of these shows, continuing the tradition of high quality and great entertainment at Century Church Theatre,” officials say.
“It’s a great way to start off the 20th anniversary season of The Erin Arts Foundation, which sponsors the theatre.”
The Century Theatre Guild’s next production will be the comedy Will You Still Love Me in the Morning, by Brian Clemens and Dennis Spooner.
The show will take place from May 24 to June 2.
