Centre Wellington to host volunteer fair May 6

CENTRE WELLINGTON – The township is hosting a volunteer fair on May 6 from 6 to 8pm at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex.

There will also be a session for students from 1 to 3pm on the same day.

The fair features more than 30 local organizations that are in need of volunteers to take on tasks including running programs, delivering meals, assisting the public, planting flowers, and loading and unloading boxes.

There is no shortage of volunteer opportunities, and the benefits to individual volunteers run the gamut from making new friends, feeling good about yourself, and assisting worthwhile organizations and partnerships, officials say. It’s also a great way to become involved in the community, they add.

And for the organizations, well, volunteers are the lifeblood of the New to You shop, the Centre Wellington Food Bank, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Centre Wellington, the Elora Festival, Elora Riverfest, and numerous sports clubs.

If you are looking to become involved or looking to get volunteer hours, the volunteer fair is a one-stop shop for opportunities.
