Centre Wellington set to begin gradual re-opening of municipal office to public

CENTRE WELLINGTON – The township is set to move into Phase 2, Stage 2 of its gradual re-opening implementation plan for municipal administration functions.

In a July 3 press release Centre Wellington officials announced staff will begin scheduling appointments with residents at the municipal office in Elora, which has been closed to the public since mid-March due to the COVID-19 pandemic beginning on July 6. Appointments will be only for services that cannot be completed by phone or on-line at centrewellington.ca.

Services that will be available in person, by appointment include:

– marriage licence;

– kennel licence; and

– commissioning.

The doors to the municipal office will remain locked, and residents may only enter if they have a scheduled appointment. Resident will be required to wear a face covering, and follow the protocols in place to ensure the safety of staff and those in the office.

In-person payments or drop-ins will not be accepted during Phase 2, Stage 2 of the re-opening. Municipal payments will continue to be accepted through the following payment options:

– internet or telephone banking;

– paid over the counter at a bank or credit union; – one of two pre-authorized payment plans (monthly or by installment). More information can be found on pre-authorized payment plans by visiting www.centrewellington.ca/taxes; and

– mailed or dropped off in the secure mailbox at the municipal office, located at 1 MacDonald Square in Elora. Cheques should be made payable to The Township of Centre Wellington (current and post-dated cheques are accepted).

There will be limited staff in the office to assist residents at this time. The majority of staff will continue to work from remote locations, and will be phased in gradually as part of the re-opening plan.
