On June 26, Centre Wellington council said farewell to managing director of corporate services Wesley Snarr.

Township CAO Andy Goldie noted Snarr had worked for the Township of Centre Wellington in one form or another since the township’s creation in 1999.

Prior to that, Snarr had worked for the Town of Fergus for five years.

Goldie said Snarr has spent 23 years keeping the township in good financial shape, noting members of council have heard Snarr say “no” to various spending proposals.

“(Snarr) has been very cautious in making sure we are in good financial stead,” said Goldie.

“Wes was always the point person in funding applications to the upper levels of government.”

Goldie noted the June 26 session would be Snarr’s final meeting at council, as Snarr officially steps down at the end of July.

Mayor Kelly Linton extended thanks for Snarr’s financial leadership.

“I think all of us definitely appreciate the work and effort put in,” said Linton.
