Centre Wellington gets $799,000 gas tax rebate

On Jan. 20, Centre Wellington Mayor Joanne Ross-Zuj told council that this year the township would be getting a gas tax rebate of $799,000.

“We now have it guaranteed as sustainable and predictable funding for the municipality,” Ross-Zuj said, adding council should extend thanks to the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.

Ross-Zuj said gas tax revenues will amount to $2.6 million throughout Wellington County.

“That is well worth the effort,” she said.

Councillor Walt Visser added that as an FCM representative Ross-Zuj “helped to negotiate that deal.”
