Centre Wellington council costs up $11,000 as total tally comes in at over $176,000

The cost of remuneration for Centre Wellington council in 2013 came in at just over $176,000 – roughly $11,000 more than in 2013.
While the mayor’s salary listed in council remuneration documents comes in at just over $35,015, Joanne Ross-Zuj’s total earnings, including payments to be a representative on Centre Wellington Hydro and the Grand River Conservation Authority, bring that figure to $45,607.
The figures provided in the Centre Wellington information package do not include the mayor’s earnings as a member of Wellington County council, where she was the second highest earner,  with salary and benefits of $37,600 and reimbursed expenses of $13,800 for a total payout of $51,500.
Except for Steve Vanleeuwen’s claim, which dropped by roughly $500 between 2012 and 2013, all other council member council payouts (base pay/honourarium, meetings and expenses) increased.
The highest in local councillor claims was Walt Visser at $28,110, compared to  Vanleeuwen’s $18,668.
Council recently endorsed this year’s remuneration document (above) with little discussion.
