Centre Wellington clerk retires after 30-year career

After eight years with Centre Wellington, clerk Marion Morris is stepping down.

On Feb. 18. Centre Wellington Mayor Joanne Ross-Zuj announced that night’s meeting would be Morris’ last.

“On behalf of council, we want to wish you the absolute very best. I know you have lots of exciting things in your life which you want to pursue,” said Ross-Zuj.

Though with the township for eight years, Morris has served in municipal government for 30 years.

Before joining the staff of Centre Wellington Township, Morris served with the Region of Waterloo in clerk services.

“It was just time for me,” Morris said of her decision to retire.

She found it hard to pick a specific memory of her time in Centre Wellington, since so much has changed.

“It’s been a great municipality to work for,” said Morris.

“The residents are wonderful and council is great. We all work as a team, which is rewarding enough itself for staff.

Morris added, “Council cares about this municipality.”

Morris said she plans to occupy her spare time in retirement by spending more time vacationing and visiting with her grandchildren.
