Councillor Sherry Burke  has noted that on March 12, through the recreation department, will be a celebration of the “opening of the elevator down in Arthur.”

“We’re in the stages of planning a party,” she said at Wellington North council on Monday.

She confirmed there will be children’s entertainment, and a breakfast is being planned through the Arthur Lions Club.

Burke believes the event will run from 10am to 2pm, with more details to follow.

Mayor Ray Tout said that from what he understood, “It’s going to be a pretty excellent day.”

Burke added there is a hockey tournament going on the same day, “so there should be a good crowd.”

Tout said the event at the community centre is open to the public and to all ages.
