Celebrating the Seven exhibit coming to county museum next week

Stimulate your senses this spring in the upcoming textile exhibit Celebrating the Seven at Wellington County Museum and Archives.

Over two dozen Connections Fibre Artists will pay tribute to the Group of Seven, showcasing a variety of textile art.

“The members of Connections Fibre Artists accepted the challenge to design their own original art that reflects their individual research into the artists, the paintings and the styles of the Group of Seven,” said Sharron Begg, coordinator of Connections Fibre Artists.

“Each member approached this theme inspired by their own memories of the Canadian landscape, by an emotional response to a particular artist or painting, or by some of the techniques and colour palettes used by these iconic Canadian artists.”

Formed in 1999, Connections Fibre Artists was created by a small group of friends whose common bond was the love of stitching. Their focus is to promote awareness and enjoyment of fibre art.

The opening reception will take place on April 4, from 7 to 9pm at the Wellington County Museum and Archives. The exhibit runs April 5 to June 8.

The Wellington County Museum and Archives is located on Wellington Road 18 between Fergus and Elora. The galleries are open weekdays from 9:30am to 4:30pm, and 1 to 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
