Celebrate kindness on Random Act of Kindness Day

Random Act of Kindness Day (RAK) was started in 2008 by the Kitchener-Waterloo Community Foundation to bring communities together by engaging citizens in small acts of kindness and generosity.

This year, Random Act of Kindness Day is set for Nov. 1, and East Wellington Community Services (EWCS) is encouraging everyone to get involved by doing something kind for someone else and appreciate fellow citizens.

This day is an opportunity to do something kind for someone else, to appreciate fellow citizens and for community building – it’s not about fundraising or giving money – just a day to celebrate kindness.

Research has shown that kindness is contagious – it empowers and involves everyone in the community and helps to build even stronger ties to the community.

Simple acts of kindness are endless; congratulate someone on a job well done, donate to the food bank, offer to drive someone to an appointment, offer to carry groceries for someone, hold open a door …there are many ideas and the best part of it all is that it does not cost a thing so everyone in the community has a chance to participate, EWCS officials state in a press release
