Celebrate in Canada’s Most Patriotic Village next weekend

ARTHUR – There’s lots to celebrate in Canada’s Most Patriotic Village on the weekend approaching Canada Day.

During the weekend, the Arthur Optimist Club is holding its Canada Day draw with the first prize of a gas generator, second prize of a $500 gift card and third prize, a MTD lawn trimmer.

Friday

The weekend begins on June 28 with a men’s and mixed three-pitch tournament and Spanky’s BBQ and catering truck.

Saturday

Saturday morning begins with the 7th annual Get In Touch For Hutch at the Arthur and Area Community Centre.

Event opening ceremonies are set for 8:50am withrace times for the 1km and 5km run/walk at 9:30am.

Registration includes a race swag bag and T-shirt, post race lunch, and children’s activities.

On site will be community information booths and musical entertainment

Get In Touch For Hutch works with a number of organizations to help remove the stigma attached to mental illness, and provide the necessary resources to people that are suffering.

The day continues with the men’s and mixed three pitch and a horseshoe tournament starting at 1pm.

A free swim is also being offered from 1 to 3pm. This event is sponsored by Get In Touch For Hutch.

Later on, the Arthur Lions Club and churches of Arthur will present a barbecue dinner at the community centre from 4 to 6:30pm – advance tickets only.

The day caps off with free fireworks at dusk (about 9:30pm). Donations are always welcome.

Sunday

Sunday begins with the annual family and business three-pitch tournament and a free swim from 1 to 3pm sponsored by the Arthur Optimist Club.

A Power Paws Dog Show is set for 2 and 4pm.

There will be additional kids activities from 2 to 5pm.

An open air family movie night featuring the movie Disney’s Dumbo will show at about 9:15pm.

Attendees are asked to bring their own chairs and blankets. Refreshments will be available.

The movie night is also sponsored through Get In Touch For Hutch.
