Celebrate Country Roots and Rubber Boots at Grand Valley Fall Fair

GRAND VALLEY – Celebrate Country Roots and Rubber Boots at the 147th Grand Valley Fall Fair from Sept. 20 to 22.

There are plenty of attractions to keep everyone entertained all weekend long.

Unfortunately the heavy horse show is cancelled for this year.

Admission

Gate admission is $10 for adults and $5 for those under the age of 18. 

Advance weekend passes in local businesses are $20 until Sept 19. Exhibits can be placed on Thursday between 7 and 9pm and on Friday between 8 and 11am

All activities included with wristband unless stated.     

Sept. 20

Hall doors open at 6pm at the same time as vendors and concessions open.

Enjoy L’ll Farmin’ Fun from 6 to 9pm or get into the bounce with Grand River Inflatables from 6 to 10pm.

The fair officially opens at 6:15pm followed by a 6:30pm start for the ambassador competition, little sir and little miss as well as the junior and senior categories.

Enjoy Phil Rumney and band from 7:30 to 10pm and/or take in the social and bar in the Grand River Room upstairs from 8 to 11pm.

New this year are the FMX stunt rider shows at 6:30, 8 and 9:30pm. 

Pro riders will participate in an intense competition, with death defying tricks.

Sept 21

On Saturday the hall opens at 9am.

Create some new memories at the fair with a 10am birdhouse building workshop sponsored by Ace Hardware or let the kids take part in a cookie decorating workshop at 11am or 3pm.

A colouring workshop is also planned from noon to 2pm.

Or, zumba with Amanda Philips on the stage.

New this year is noon registration for the 1 to 4pm youth talent show followed by the Party Safari live stage show at 4pm.

Grand River Inflatables will open from 10am to 6pm along with L’ll Farming Fun for the youngsters.

Take your pick of the Kiddie Tractor Pulling or scavanger hunt which both start at 1pm.

At 11am the beer tent opens. The time coincides with a sanctioned goat show. The dairy show begins at 11:30am.

For something different, try out Far Shot Archery and Axe Throwing from 11am to 4pm. 

Noon is also the start of the demolition derby.

There are more FMX stunt rider shows at 11:30am and 4:30 and 7:30pm.

The sheep show begins at 1pm as does the horseshoe pitch competition.

Local tractor pulls begin at 6pm with the King of the Pull competition starting at 8pm.

New this year is the Fall Fair Bash with the Campfire Poets in the Grand River Room upstairs from 9pm to 1am.

Sept. 22

On Sunday, the hall doors open at 9am and a community church service begins at 9:30am.

At 11am, zumba with Amanda Philips on stage.

The beer tent also opens at 11am.

Kids cookie decorating workshops are at noon and 2pm.

Local truck pulls begin at noon with big rigs and highway tractors starting their pulls at 3pm.

On the entertainment scene, the 1pm – Frosted Patterns Live band is on stage 1pm and at 2:30pm there is line dancing with Cathy Montgomery.

Grand River Inflatables will be open from 10am to 4pm along with L’ll Farming Fun for the littles.

The fair also offers a 25-foot climbing wall.

A kiddies tractor pull is at 2pm and there is an all-day petting zoo.

FMX stunt rider shows at 11:30am and 2 and 5pm.

Junior and homecraft exhibits are to be removed from  3 to 5pm.
