Building activity in Guelph-Eramosa will likely surpass $20 million this year - the highest mark since 2009.

On Dec. 2 chief building official Michael Newark presented a report to council  outlining activity to the end of October, including 198 permits issued for a total construction value of over $15 million.

In October alone there were 21 permits issued for a total value of construction over $6.9 million, which was buoyed largely by the construction of the new two-storey 34,000 square-foot, $6.26-million public school in Rockwood’s south end.

Newark said he expects the township will crack the $20-million mark this year, a level the township has not surpassed since 2009, when the total construction value was just under $24-million.
