MOUNT FOREST - Cancer Patient Services has donated two new freezers to the regional Meals on Wheels program in support of mutual clients living with a cancer diagnoses.

The Meals on Wheels program gets referrals from many sources: self-referral/family/friend, Family Health Teams, Hospital, Cancer Patient Services, Canadian Mental Health Association, Home and Community Support Services, and more.

“It’s crucial to our clients that stakeholders in the community work together to support our mutual community members in need,” officials state in an Oct. 27 press release.

“Meals on Wheels is so grateful for the donation received from the Cancer Patient Service committee. This donation will better support community members who are 65-plus or an adult physically unable to cook for themselves, for many years to come.”

Officials urge local residents to consider volunteering time – “to make a huge impact in your community” – by calling Cancer Patient Services at 519-509-2300 (Mount Forest area) or VON Meals on Wheels or Transportation services 519-323-2330 (Wellington County Wide).
