Canada Post will work with staff on address plan

Township staff will work with Canada Post on revising mailing addresses in Puslinch.

At the Sept. 7 meeting, Mayor Dennis Lever noted there were a number of pieces of correspondence regarding options such as considering the inclusion of the name Aberfoyle as an another Canada Post destination.

Council received the correspondence and asked that staff work with Canada Post.

In earlier correspondence, Canada Post had stated the change is part of planned updates to improve delivery across Canada.

Canada Post identified approximately 1,425 addresses within Puslinch that use a Guelph postal code and use Guelph as their municipal identifier.

The current plan is to switch these to a code specific to Puslinch Township and to change the municipal identifier to Puslinch or Township of Puslinch.

Affected addresses are within current postal codes NIH 6J3 and NIH 6H8.

Lever noted correspondence was received from Canada Post asking the corporation be allowed to work with staff prior to council considering a recommendation, including Aberfoyle as a  mailing destination.
