CANADA DAY 2011: Fergus Festivities for Canada Day

Once again, as Canada Day will be celebrated throughout the Township of Centre Wellington on Canada Day, July 1, a number of activities will be taking place at the Sportsplex in Fergus in the evening, starting at 6pm.

The musical line-up for the evening includes 3 local bands – Transit, Detour and Seed. Transit plays a variety of popular rock and new country music, Seed is based out of The Door youth drop-in centre in Fergus and Detour is based out of Elora. The bands take the stage at 6pm and play throughout the evening.

For the younger attendees, the Kiddie Fun Trak midway offers a variety of rides and games including mechanical and inflatable bouncy rides and mini-putt. Their ever popular snack wagon, complete with crowd pleasing candy floss, will help meet the needs of those with a sweet tooth.

A number of food vendors will be at the evening celebration including two Centre Wellington churches offering hand cut, home-made fries. Also available are sausages, burgers, soft drinks, soft ice cream treats and bagged candy.

The night will conclude with a fabulous fireworks display scheduled to start at 10pm.

Admission is a $2 donation per person. A portion of the proceeds from the event will support the family oriented projects of the Fergus Optimist club.
