CANADA DAY 2011: Belwood Lake Flotilla Celebrates Canada Day

The Belwood Lake Cottagers’ Association (BLCA) has asked its Members to show their patriotism by decorating their boats, docks, cottages and themselves in their best Canadian attire.

The flotilla will be lead by the OPP’s Wellington County Marine Unit and will begin its procession on the water from Seventh Street at noon, taking approximately two hours to make its way around the lake.

If the weather cooperates, dozens of boats are expected to participate.  “This is the second year for the BLCA’s Canada Day Flotilla,” said John Hamilton, Vice President of the BLCA & organizer of the event.

“Last year’s event was hastily prepared at the last minute but our members responded very enthusiastically, with approximately 17 boats participating. With Canada Day falling on a Friday this year, I expect an even bigger turnout.”
