Butter Tart Trail pasSports launched

Wellington North is inviting everyone to “simply explore” an area that includes walking and cycling trails and a birding trail, all winding through quaint tranquil vistas for discovery on a self-guided tour.

Of all the trails, the Butter Tart Trail is one of the most popular, which organizers say is hardly surprising.

“Who doesn’t like a rich, decadently-sinful butter tart and on this self-guided road tour, there are at least a dozen varieties to try,” states a press release from the township.

There are also other inventions to encounter: doggy butter tart treats, dessert pottery trays, aprons and scents inspired by them or even a butter tart sundae, trifle and pie. It’s an exploration of all things “butter tart” in one variation or another.

Passport program

New this year, the Butter Tart Trail is launching a special passport promotion at the Mount Forest Fireworks Festival.

The pasSports can be picked up at participating trail members on the weekend of the festival and completed by Sept. 30 for a chance to win prizes from trail participants.

Always the third weekend in July, the Mount Forest Fireworks Festival is celebrating its 15th anniversary. The Mount Forest Fireworks Festival has been one of Ontario’s Top 100 Festivals and Events for eight years running.

Experience amusements, live entertainment, interactive kids’ shows, sidewalk sales, music, breakfasts, barbecues, one of Canada’s top 10 largest classic car shows and of course, a spectacular fireworks display.

Everyone is encouraged to pick up a copy of the Wellington North Simply Explore and the Butter Tart Trail brochure map, to find a complete listing of trail participants. For more information or to download a copy of the brochure map, visit the website www.simplyexplore.ca.
