Building activity steady in Mapleton Township in 2020

MAPLETON – The Mapleton building department issued 338 permits for construction valued at $54,153,800 in 2020.

An annual report submitted by Chief Building Official Patty Wright at the March 9 council meeting also notes building permit fees of $474,713 were collected by the township last year.

The overall numbers are very similar to 2019, when the township issued 314 permits for construction valued at just over $54 million and charged fees of $442,664.

Wright’s report indicates agriculture construction accounted for the largest share of building activity, with 117 permits issued (34.6 per cent of the total) for construction valued at just over $24 million (45% of the total).

Single family home construction, with 36 permits issued for construction worth about $16.6 million was the next largest sector.

At total of 11 permits were issued for industrial construction worth $3.5 million and 10 permits were issued for commercial projects valued at 1.4 million.
