Brush and garden material pickup set to begin in Wellington North

WELLINGTON NORTH – The township’s wood brush and garden material disposal pick-up program will get underway later this month.

The township recently announced pickup in Mount Forest will be offered on April 29 and May 27. Pickup in Arthur will be offered on May 6 and June 2.

Items accepted for pickup include: small tree branches, woody hedge trimmings, grass clippings, hedge trimmings, leaves, garden waste (no pots), household plants and weeds.

Items that will not be accepted include: lumber, tree stumps, large branches, trees, animal waste, food/kitchen waste, plastic containers or bags, clay pots/plating containers, stones, rocks and gravel.

Residents should have material out by 7am on pick-up dates. Wood brush and garden material should be piled neatly at the roadside in separate piles. Brush is required to be free of loose debris i.e. leaves, grass clippings and garden waste and leaves, grass clippings and garden waste are to be   in brown paper bags not exceeding 50lbs. Piles are to be no larger than 6 feet x 6 feet x 4 feet.

Wellington County will be offering a leaf and yard waste program beginning July 1. The township will re-evaluate its service related to brush pick-up after the county program is implemented.
