Bridge acclaimed as chair of Board of Health

GUELPH – George Bridge has been acclaimed as chair of the board of Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health (WDGPH).

Bridge, a longtime board member and former mayor of Minto, was elected at the 2024 inaugural meeting of the board of health on Feb.7.

“We’ll see how this goes for another year,” he said after accepting the position. “We have an exciting year ahead.”

Guelph councillor Linda Busuttil was elected vice chair and Guelph/Eramosa Mayor Chris White was re-elected secretary/treasurer.

Bridge also introduced Sandra Starr from Dufferin County as a new board member.

Board members also signed up for committees at the meeting.

On the finance committee are: White (chair), Bridge, Starr, Busuttil, Dufferin citizen appointee Ralph Manktelow and Guelph councillor Rodrigo Goller.

Human resources committee members include: East Garafraxa Mayor and Dufferin County councillor Guy Gardhouse (chair), Wellington County councillor Dave Anderson, Wellington County citizen appointee Dr. Duncan Bull, Dufferin citizen appointee Steve Cavell, Guelph councillor Erin Caton and Bridge.

Executive committee members are: Bridge, Busuttil, White and Gardhouse.

The board meets on the first Wednesday of each month except in January, July, August and October.
