Brantford man charged with kidnapping, assault
Police say person held against their will on Feb. 19 in Brisbane
BRISBANE – A Brantford man is facing five charges, including kidnapping, assault and uttering threats, following an incident here on Thursday.
Wellington County OPP officials say officers responded on Feb. 19 at about 2:15pm to "a call from an individual ... being held against their will" at a business on Wellington Road 124 between Trafalgar Road and Patrick Drive.
"Police attended ... after the victim contacted 9-1-1," stated a Feb. 20 press release from the OPP.
"The suspect fled the scene on foot and was taken into custody without incident a short time later. There were no injuries."
Police say nearby Brisbane Public School was placed under a "hold and secure" protocol while officers "contained the area for the investigation."
A 28-year-old Brantford man was charged with kidnapping, assault (spousal), assault causing bodily harm, intimidation and uttering threats.
He is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
Police say they will not identify the man in order to protect the identity of the victim.
