Blue Bonnet Lassies dance their way to top honours in recent competitions
FERGUS - On March 18, Maribelle McBroom competed at the Montreal Highland-Open Indoor Competition, in Point Claire, Qc.
In the Beginner 10 years and under category, she placed first in Fling, Seann Triubhas, and Lilt; and second in Sword, earning herself the highest score of her group and overall trophy.
On April 30, dancers competed at the WOHDA London District Competition in London.
In the beginner 9 and under 11 years category Maribelle McBroom placed second in Flora, fifth in Lilt, and sixth in Sword and Seann Triubhas.
In the Intermediate 12 and under 14 years Ainsley Stewart placed first in Lilt, second in Flora, third in Barracks Jonnie, and fifth in Laddie.
On May 13, dancers competed at the Nicola McMaster Memorial Competition in Ancaster.
In the Beginner 7 years and under category Harlyn Heathers placed sixth in fling.
In the Novice 11 years and over category Gabby Jackson placed fifth in Seann Triubhas, and sixth in Flora and Fling.
On June 4, dancers competed at the Anna Cann Memorial Competition in Guelph.
In the Primary category Brianna Earle placed third in Fling, fourth in Pas de Basques and sixth in Pas de Basques and highcuts.
In the Beginner 8 years and under category, Harlyn Heathers placed second in Lilt, third in Fling and Seann Triubhas and fifth in Sword; and Violet Earle placed fourth in Fling and sixth in Lilt, Sword, and Seann Triubhas.
In the Beginner 9 and 10 years category, Scarlett Jackson placed first in Lilt, second in Fling, third in Sword, and fourth in Seann Triubhas; Maribelle McBroom placed second in Sword, and third in Lilt, Fling, and Seann Triubhas; and Hadley Heathers placed fifth in Lilt, Fling, Sword, and Seann Triubhas.
In the Beginner 11 years and over category, Brooke Bailey placed third in Lilt, fourth in Seann Triubhas, fifth in Fling and Sword.
In the Novice category, Gabby Jackson placed fourth in Lilt and Fling, and fifth in Sword and Seann Triubhas.
In the Intermediate category Ashley Elliott placed first in Seann Triubhas, fourth in Hornpipe, fifth in Lilt, and sixth in Fling; Ainsley Stewart placed third in Lilt, fourth in Seann Triubhas, fifth in Fling, and sixth in Hornpipe; and Avaline Booth placed fifth in Hornpipe.
This competition marks the end of indoor competitions and the beginning of summer highland games season starting with Georgetown Highland Games on June 10.
