Big Brothers Big Sisters get national credit

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Centre Wellington has been granted accreditation having once again successfully met the high review standards outlined by the national governing body, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada.

The accreditation certificate is granted upon approval of agency practices in the areas of child safety, service delivery, and organizational excellence.  Organizational excellence includes a consultative process with agency volunteers, parents, and board members, assurance of sound fiscal management practices, and agency strategic planning.

Eleanor Johnston, president of the board of directors thanked the board members, staff, and other volunteers for their continuing time and effort which enable the local group to fulfill its mandate and maintain the high level of excellence required to meet the national standards.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Centre Wellington is committed to serving area children by providing them with high quality mentor relationships with volunteers. Programs include individual or couple matches between Bigs and Littles, the group programs, and the two school based mentor programs: In-School Mentoring and Go Girls. The agency appreciates the ongoing generous support from the community, but continues to need interested adult volunteers for its programs and the board of directors, as well as financial assistance through its fundraising activities, donations, or grants.
