BENN, Kenneth Howard, May 11, 1941 - September 20, 2016. With great sadness, we announce that Kenneth Howard Benn passed away at his home in Alma, Ontario on September 20 with his loving wife Valerie at his side. Ken is survived by his wife Valerie, daughter Julie (Mark) Davis, son Alfred (Victoria Dobson) Benn, step daughter Jacqueline D’Abbenigno and stepson Michael D’Abbenigno, brother Ernie (Linda) Benn and sister Karen (Ron) Kerr. Ken was a devoted and loving grandfather to Nicole and Kendra Davis. Many nephews and nieces also survive him. His father Alfred Benn Jr., his mother Veronica Benn and sister Diane predeceased Ken. Ken’s B.Sc. in Metallurgical Engineering (Queen’s University) and his MA Sc (University of Waterloo) was used very effectively during his working career within the North American Foundry industry. His career was cut short by a severe auto accident. In retirement, travelling the world with Valerie brought great pleasure, enjoyment and many interesting stories that he loved to talk about. Ken had many passions in his life but his love of family, travel, quest of knowledge, and his sense of community service were always at the forefront. All who knew him will miss Ken – may he rest in peace. Cremation has taken place. Private family service scheduled.
