Belwood and District Lions Club host Effective Speaking Contest

BELWOOD – Every year the Belwood and District Lions Club hosts an Effective Speaking Contest. During the morning session the club opened the event to the juniors in Grade 5 and 6 to local schools such as East Garafraxa, JD Hogarth, John Black, Maryborough, Mono Amaranth, Salem Public, St. John’s Brebeuf and St. Joseph’s Catholic School. The 16 students from these schools presented in both English and French on March 29.

The contest began at 9am with the award ceremonies to follow from 11:30 am to 3pm. Participants enjoyed light snacks and beveraged provided by the club. The picture above shows the junior winners displaying their certificates and plaques. First place winners get their names added to the plaques which reside in the Lions’ Den.
