BEGGS, John, age 78, of Elora, Ontario, passed away on Monday, October 1, 2018, at Hamilton General Hospital. Born in Mornington Township, Perth County, on January 5, 1940, he was the eldest son of the late Kenneth and Winnifred (Freeman) Beggs. After graduating from McMaster University, he taught math to hundreds of students, before becoming a high school principal at Arthur DHS, Centre Wellington DHS, and Centennial CVI for thousands more. In his later years, he travelled with his wife, Norma, relaxed at his cottage in Bala, Muskoka, and made his grandchildren laugh. He is remembered as a loving husband to Norma; an inspiration to his sons, David, Michael (Peggy) and Steven (Jennifer Krul); a proud grandfather to Cole, Shanna, and Riley; and a beloved brother to his sister, Ruth Jenkins and brother, Jim (Diane) Beggs. He was predeceased by his infant son, Scott, his sister May, and his brother-in-law, Jack Jenkins. Visitation was held on Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 7:00 to 9:00pm at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 37 Church St. West Elora, Ontario. A Funeral service was held on Friday, October 5, 2018, at 2:00pm at the Elora United Church, 75 Geddes St. Elora, Ontario.
