Bed race challenge on Oct. 13 part of Sensational Elora festival

Local bed and breakfast operators will play host to a unique event taking place during Sensational Elora – a Festival of the Senses event.

On Oct. 13, the final day of the two week long Sensational Elora event, the Fergus Elora Bed and Breakfast Association will conduct the first annual FEBBA bed race. It will take place at Bissell Park starting at 2pm.

Each team consists of five (four pushers and one rider) and will be awarded points based on best theme, fastest time, and the bed-making competition. The team excelling in all categories will be crowned the 2008 FEBBA bed race champion. Team entry is $50 and prizes will be awarded. Following the parade of beds, where the bed race competitors present their themed beds for the crowd, teams will compete against each other on a straight course with one turn-around. At the turn-around the teams must “make” their beds.

The race is a timed event, but the bed making is judged with points awarded so teams will need to adopt a winning strategy of speed and bedding prowess.

This event is open to all, and businesses, students, sport teams, event councils, families, and friends are encouraged to challenge each other. For all the event details including registration visit www.febba.ca. The deadline for entry is Sept. 30. For information on event, email bedrace@febba.ca.
