Barn destroyed by fire

ERIN – On Nov. 5 at about 9:20am county OPP officers were called to a fire at a farm south east of here.

Police arrived at a property on County Road 52 and spoke to members of the Erin Fire Department who fighting a barn fire on the property. Erin Fire Department Chief Dan Callaghan told officers the blaze started after a block heater was plugged into a tractor in the barn.

Property owners removed most cattle from the barn, but 10 cows perished in the fire. The barn and contents were completely destroyed as a result, and damage estimates are unknown at this time.
