ERIN – Wellington County’s most eligible bachelor, Hank the donkey, captured hearts this past week after his search for love went public.
Hank, who resides at Erin Hill Acres, is a seven-year-old donkey with a “too-hot-to-trot” personality, said wingman and farm manager Tyler Gerrard.
“Hank is looking for not just someone to have a baby with, but he’s looking to hav
e a full life and fulfill all his hopes and dreams,” said Gerrard.
The search began after Gerrard’s mother remarked that Hank should have little donkeys.

“He’s just looking for a good wholesome Jenny,” quipped Gerrard.
Hank isn’t just charming and good looking – he has an illustrious career too.
“Hank has been in a church play across a stage, he’s halter broke [an
d] he’s got good manners,” said Gerrard.
But in the field, Hank can be “a little sassy when he needs to be,” said Gerrard.
Hank’s June 17 debut on the farm, and as the official mascot of Cambridge hockey team, the Swamp Donkeys, was a collaborative effort.
Gerrard’s parents chipped in $1,200 toward Hank’s $2,000 price tag, with the remainder coming from the Swamp Donkeys teammates and Erin Hill Acres staff, who chipped in to the “hank fund,” said Gerrard.
The search to find Hank’s mate has a Christmas deadline, but the perfect Jenny has some requirements to check off first.
“She’s got to be obviously old enough, but not too old,” said Gerrard, adding good manners are a must.
“Hopefully she’s as beautiful as Hank is so their children just flourish,” said Garrard.
Hank has already managed to capture the hearts of three special ladies, but applications are still coming in.
“We’re interested to see what’s out there, and he’s very open-minded, and he’s willing to see what’s going on,” said Gerrard.
“We’re definitely going to show him the pictures [and] give him all the information – because he’s a grown man,” said Gerrard.
“He can make his own decisions.”
