CENTRE WELLINGTON – The township has worked out a deal with Wellington County to resume once-a-week garbage pickup in downtown Elora and Fergus.

BELWOOD – The West Garafraxa works garage will act as a temporary post office for Belwood residents until Canada Post finds a permanent solution.

MOUNT FOREST – One might think that with ‘forest’ right in its name, the town of Mount Forest would be focused on protecting its trees – especially the trees that are more than 100 years old.

CENTRE WELLINGTON – The downtown areas in Fergus and Elora are about to grow "up." Council approved two zoning amendments at its June 26 meeting allowing four-storey apartment buildings to be constructed in the two downtown cores.

ELORA – In their final good deed of the school year, Grade 8 students at Elora Public School are holding a car wash in support of Team Addy, which in turn will give those proceeds and more to Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children.

PUSLINCH – Another train sparked another grass fire along the track that runs through Arkell and that has neighbours up in arms about occurrences they call “frequent” and about the potential for the fires to spread.

CENTRE WELLINGTON – The township wants to know how residents feel about cannabis retail stores being allowed in Centre Wellington and has a survey posted online at ConnectCW.

FERGUS – Art students at Centre Wellington District High School had the rare opportunity to show – and perhaps sell – some of their work at a real art gallery.

PUSLINCH – Scaling back the number of employees and reconfiguring the layout did not persuade local residents that a proposed innovation hub on secondary agricultural land is a good fit for Puslinch.

PUSLINCH – Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year and program coordinator Sarah Bowers-Peter is taking her show on the road, presenting information about the agency to municipalities and organizations in the region.
