ARTHUR – “It’s going to be our sparkliest fundraiser yet.”

That’s what officials say about the Arthur Agricultural Society’s Denim and Diamonds Ladies’ Night, set for Nov. 7 at the Arthur Arena (158 Domville St.).

Event organizer Doreen Smith told the Community News the  fundraising committee looked into what other agricultural societies were doing, and a ladies’ night seemed like a good fit.

“A group of ladies, best friends and friendly faces out for an evening, enjoying a meal with a glass of wine accompanied by the sounds of laughter and music in the background is always a good thing,” she added.

The fundraiser will be catered by Cindy’s Catering Service and PB Bakery and will include ham, Tuscan chicken, seasoned roasted mini potatoes, maple roasted root vegetables and a salad.

There will be dessert – but Smith said they’re “saving that delicious surprise for the night of.”

For Smith, the highlight of the evening will be the two auctions.

“McPhee Auctions will be showcasing a live auction consisting of: fine wine (mystery auction), jewelry, purse, baking (‘carat cake’ with a mystery gift inside), and a quilt donated by June Wagg of Mount Forest.

“We are also hosting a silent auction and 50/50 raffle.”

Organizers went for the denim and diamonds theme to help people “feel at home,” Smith said.

“Come in your jeans, or add a little sparkle. It’s a night for you to shine, however you like,” she wrote in an email.

There will be a DJ who is happy to take song requests, she added, so “have your requests ready ... the night is yours.”

Smith said her personal goal of the evening “is to see our community members, whether you’re a mom, sister, friend, daughter or grandmother, all return home with a feeling of joy that comes after every great event.

“Grab your denim, sparkle bright, and join us for an unforgettable night.”

Tickets are $65 per person,  are sold in tables of eight, and go on sale Sept. 10 at 5:30 atzeffy.com/en-CA/ticketing/ladies-night-denim-and-diamonds

Guests must be at least 19 years old.

“Start planning your table now – we have a feeling this one’s going to shine.”
