On Saturday, April 27 the Guelph Arts Council/Open Doors will be hosting an exhibition featuring artwork on the subject of The Petrie Building from 10am  to 4 pm at The Sleeman Centre.

The Petrie Exhibition 2013 will feature several works by various Guelph artists (including Shannon Christie, David J. Knight, Dean Palmer, Carolyn Riddell, Sona Mincoff and Stephen Lewis) through a variety of media: photography, sculpture, watercolour, pastel (and more).

The Petrie Building has been an iconic architectural presence at the corner of Wyndham and Macdonnell streets since 1882. In October 2012 the Facebook group (Save the Petrie Building 15 Wyndham Street North) celebrated  the 130th Anniversary of The Petrie Building with exhibitions at Ed Video Media Arts Centre, the Crimea Street Studio Gallery, The Apollo Restaurant and the Guelph Public Library (Bullfrog Mall). Bringing public awareness to this amazing building has reunited four lines of A. B. Petrie’s descendants. With the express support of the Agelakos family, the public is invited to visit this exhibition and discover a grand interior not usually seen.
