The Ariss and District Lions Club has committed to raising $15,000 towards a new scoreboard at the Marden Field House, now known as the Royal Distributing and Performance Centre.

Club president Brian Kurtz came to Guelph-Eramosa council last week to make the announcement.

The club, which currently  has 10 members and is considered a branch of the Royal City Lions Club in?Guelph, has 10 years to raise the money.

Mayor Chris White said any donations towards the multi-phased development of Marden park, which he called a major project for the township, is a great help.

“I’m very, very pleased the Lions Club has stepped up so early,” White said, before township officials and residents in the gallery recognized the club’s donation with a round of applause.

The Ariss and District Lions Club was formed last October.
