Area theatre offers programs for youth

Those who like to sing or act or both are being invited to join Theatre Orangeville for a summer of creative theatre and fun.
Theatre Orangeville is offering two unique programs.
The Musical Theatre Young Company, runs July 2 to 19, and the Drama Young Company runs July 21 to Aug. 4 (an intensive 5 week program).  Both companies are for youths aged 11-18.
The theatre hopes to provide young people, many for the first time, with the opportunity to experience the power of theatre – that entertains, stimulates and educates. The programs foster sound moral development, encourage self-expression, ignite the desire to read, and advance the development of these youths as creative members of our community. They are a fun and affordable way to experience theatre. No previous experience is required.
The culmination in both of these programs is a presentation of a full play or musical that allows the children to showcase their talent on the stage. Past works have included the junior version of Les Miserables, as well as Peter Pan, Guys and Dolls, and How to Eat Like a Child.
Every child is involved and is a star in the shows.
Auditions will be held on March 31 and April 1 (musical theatre only); on April 3 and 7 (drama only); and auditions for both companies will be held on April 2 and 4.
For all auditions please prepare a two minute memorized monologue (no poems or school speeches) and a song to sing acapella, if auditioning for the musical theatre company.  Bring a resume and a recent photo.
Call the box office to arrange an audition time at 519-942-3423 or 1-800-424-1295.
