Archives Awareness week begins April 2 at Wellington County libraries

In celebration of Archives Awareness Week from April 2 to 7, Wellington County Archives staff will be presenting three different programmes at three County libraries.

On April 2, discover the resources available at the Wellington County Archives at the Rockwood Library, beginning at 6:30pm.

Learn how to start your family history research at the Harriston library branch on April 3, at 6:30pm.

Learn how to preserve family photographs at the Mount Forest library branch on April 4, at 6:30pm.

Registration is required at the hosting branch.

The  Wellington County Archives will also be open daily for behind the scenes tours.  The week will culminate with the launch of the Wellington County Local History Articles Digitization Project on April 7 at 2pm in  Aboyne Hall.

The project will let you search Newspaper columns by local authors by keyword from anywhere in the world through the website. Articles can still be read in the original Newspaper or microfilm at the archives but now anyone, anywhere can read informative articles on Wellington County’s history.

The archives are open weekdays from 9:30am to 4:30pm and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4pm. For more information, please contact Karen Wagner, archivist at 519-846-0916 extension 5225 or via email at  karen@wellington.ca.
