Dear Editor: About 2 years ago, the provincial Liberals
passed legislation that made it mandatory to use a lawyer
to buy or sell a house in Ontario. Kathleen Wynne supported
this rather useless bit of law.
Next month, I will be selling a piece of property. In light
of the fact that the Law Society of Upper Canada has, this week, disbarred a member who was charged with 75 counts of fraud totalling $12 million, I would feel much better having the purchaser or his lawyer hand the payment directly to me.  Of course, a bank draft would be the only acceptable method of payment.
My concern is the fact that the Liberals have demanded that
I use a lawyer; however, these legislators have not told me how to discern the lawyer's credibility and trustworthiness.

Jim McClure,
Crieff, Ontario.
