Nothing in Doug Ford’s pre election position indicated that he would be using the Notwithstanding clause as a cudgel. Ford has said he will not be shy to use it again. This is appalling demagoguery. I did not vote for this abuse of power. Our MPP, the House Speaker, had dissenting MPPs ushered out of Queen’s Park. Dissent is part of democracy. Shutting down debate of Ford’s use of the Notwithstanding clause is wrong. The clause was never designed to be used on a whim to force through legislation that was ruled by the courts to be unconstitutional.

For shame, Ted Armott, for shame! As a long term MPP, you know the rules of the house. Premiers are not exempt from these rules in a democracy.
